My New Favorite Store

The weather yesterday was wet, foggy, cold and nasty. A perfect day to take a drive out to the feed store! This was our first time to visit a Big R Store and we had a lot of fun. That place has just about everything! We started at one side and made our way down every aisle, marveling at all the stuff you can find in a feed store. Neal got drawn to the men's clothing section, where he was intent on finding a decent pair of overalls and a jacket for The Ranch. I was not in a clothes-shopping mood, so while he was trying on overalls, I perused the electric fencing aisle. At one point, an employee asked me if I needed any help and I replied that I was just browsing while my husband tried on clothes. She laughed and commented on the irony of the husband clothes shopping and the wife fence shopping. Trust me, I'd rather fence shop than clothes shop any day of the week!
The primary reason we went to Big R was to see if they had any tomato cages yet, which they did not. However, neither of us came away empty-handed. Neal found a pair of overalls and a matching jacket, and I picked up some sunflower, zucchini and pole bean seeds, two tea towels and a Chickens magazine. And to top it off, they were having a big, one-day sale so we got up to 30% off on some items. And that is how a nasty day turned into a fun-filled adventure at the feed store.

Jon and Jasper were tomato seed and onion set shopping earlier today too!

That sounds like a really interesting store...
Neal shopping for clothes reminds me, that every once in awhile at the store, we would have a husband shopping and his wife sitting out on the bench waiting for him... we always got a laugh out of that.

Arnetta...yes, I heard about Jon and Jasper's garden shopping. Lucky for them, being in the south, they won't have to start their seedlings as early as I have done.

I bet it was funny to see a man browsing a gift store while his wife waited outside!

Sounds like a fun day. I've never seen a Big R Store, must be similar to our Southern States Coop. stores. Hubby and I love to go to Lowes or Home Depot.

Hi! since you were so kind to visit my blog ( A little farm with a big heart), i in turn had to come visit yours. You have a Big R store? We have one too! I used to shop there quite bit, but honestly, the staff rudeness did me in. So, I shop at a differant feed/farm supply store and they treat you like family. ( Family they like! ha ha). I am going to go through your posts. Love the pic of your dog. Going to have to find out more about him/her. And your cats!!

SVB...Big R is similar to a Tractory Supply store, if you are familiar with those. Probably about the same as your co-op store too. We've spent a good amount of time at Lowe's and Home Depot too over the last year, browsing and purchasing supplies for The Ranch.

AJ-OAKS....thanks for stopping by! Yes, we have a Big R and that was our first visit. Everyone we encountered was very nice, but I can understand your frustration with rude sales people! I spent a good portion of yesterday browsing through your blog and enjoyed it very much. Nadia is the dog on the header and she is my little sweetheart. We also have Captain and George and a herd of cats. I hope you enjoy reading about our critter family and the antics that go on around here!
