Yesterday, when I was out working in the yard, I heard a rustling sound on the side of the house. The dogs and I went to investigate. When we did, this is what we saw...

Yes, we keep an old dog bed on top of the tiller...doesn't everyone do that? Actually, I have no idea why it was there. That would be a Neal thing.

See that hole in the dog bed? Do you want to know how that hole got there?

Here's the culprit! This squirrel was not apologetic about dismantling our dog bed. She even stood still for me to snap several photos.

In fact, when I handed her a piece of stuffing that had fallen on the ground, she immediately snatched it up and proceeded to cram her mouth full. I sure hope that squirrel family enjoys their new nest!

That bed was chewed up by CaptainD. Now it's a cover for the tiller. Mama did not make the hole just making good use of the stuffing!

Thank you, dear husband, for setting me straight! I knew Captain D had done some chewing on the bed, but I really think I saw squirrel teeth marks too! And a dog bed as a cover for the tiller....of course, that makes perfect sense! :)
A good smile you just gave me!
Seriously? oh.em.gee. That is too funny. And yes, I love the banter between you and dear husband. The pictures of the squirrel are priceless.
Those squirrels are going to have a very plush nest. That's a cute picture with her mouth full of stuffing.
How sweet! That will make a lovely, soft nest. I do really love squirrels and like to watch their antics. I know. I know. They can be pests, too. One got in my aunt's attic and tried to pull a the yarn from a ball. Stretched the yarn clear across the attic and couldn't chew it threw -- just worried it until it was about a foot wide the whole length. It was so funny.
not every squirrel has access to actual bed stuffing - lucky squirrel :)
Oh my goodness that is hilarious!!! Glad I didn't take a drink of coffee when that first pic with her mouth full of stuffing came up. lol :)
Hey, your squirrel looks a lot like our ground squirrels.
Thanks for the laugh. I will be giggling about that all day!
That is too cute!!! And now I know what to do with our dog beds when they wear out..... who knew they make great tiller covers? :)
Penny, yeah....who knew? I'm always getting on to Neal about throwing things away that could be repurposed. Looks like this time he listened!
