Ginger gives wonderful hugs, for a chicken. She is the calmest of the three and will tolerate being held for quite a while - even in the wind and snow!
Neal got in on the action with a Cayenne hug. Nutmeg said she would pass on the hugs today because she is molting and not very photo-worthy right now. Plus, she's a real stinker about being caught and held.
If you have chickens, take the time today to hug them and tell them how wonderful they are. If you don't have chickens, what are you waiting for?

I love this post! And I love Hug a Chicken Day!!! Is it really today?? Yeah - I'm heading out to hug right now! But it'll be hard to photograph myself hugging the chickens!!!
i don't have any chickens, but i do have a cockatiel! she's very unfriendly though, maybe i can hug her cage with her inside it, lol
Hug your Chicken Day, how cool is that!
LOl No chickens here, just a chunky French Bulldog! I've been out of pocket, just noticed in your deer hunting post that you are from N. LA. Me, too. Well, NE LA, between Monroe and Natchez on Hwy 15. Was there this weekend, headed back next weekend. My Dad is not doing well.
I wonder if there's a Hug a Duck Day? :)
i'll pass on the hug a chicken - how about i hug a dog instead??!!
