The right tools for the job

One of the final tasks looming before us was finishing the ceiling in the garage.  It's pretty impossible for one person to put up ceiling boards, but with some creative thinking, a ladder and a box, Neal managed to get several boards up before I came along to help.  And once I came along, it didn't go much faster.

While I was sitting atop a rickety ladder, awkwardly holding a board over my head, arms turning to jello, a light bulb went off.  I remembered reading another blog about a guy who used a contraption called a ceiling jack to put sheetrock on his ceiling.

Neal thought it sounded like a great idea, so we gave up for the day and he set out to investigate where to find ceiling jacks and how much they would cost to rent.

For only $30, we were able to rent a jack and Neal finished the job alone in one afternoon.  Now, all ceiling boards are up and the insulation is in place.

Having the right tools for the job makes all the difference in the world, even if you have to spend a little money to get there!

How cool is that? See, blogs are a wonderful thing when we learn such valuable (and often helpful!) lessons. :D Looks like you guys did a great job!

What a neat "gadget" the ceiling jack sounds .... and well worth the rental fee I'm sure !!! and much safer than a ladder, a box and propping up a sheet up with boards !

I bet Neal wishes that he had had one of those
when he was doing the previous ceiling work :-)
