Spoiled Chickens

Neal felt bad that the girls didn't have any fresh grass in their run. So, he went out and bought them one piece of sod.

Did you know that sod is really not that expensive when you only buy one piece? I mean, for $2.50 the ladies now have luxury plush carpeting full of nutritious greens and bugs. Nowhere in our backyard can they find grass so thick and green...even though we spent over $600 sodding the whole yard a couple of years ago!

Knowing what I do about chickens and their tendency to destroy anything green, I am sure that patch of sod won't last through the summer. And their run will soon resemble our backyard.

But, in the meantime, I have four happy birds and one happy husband... and that makes me happy.

The things we won't do for our chickens! This is hysterical. What's next, a jacuzzi?

I never would have thought to buy sod for chickens - that's an original and creative idea. I'm sure you have some very happy and spoiled ladies there.

Linda...if anyone is getting a jacuzzi around here, it will be the humans! We do tend to go over the top for our critters, don't we?

SVB...leave it to my husband to come up with unusual, creative ideas. Yes, the girls seem quite happy.

Penny...they are lucky ladies indeed. They bring us a lot of joy so it's totally worth it. Can't wait until they start producing eggs!
