A sign or coincidence?

Not long after my mother died in 2006, we began waking up to this scene:

Being the believer in the paranormal that I am, I thought maybe it was a sign from my mother. After all, the kitchen was her favorite place to be. But then, we began catching a couple of our cats in the act of trying to open other doors to cabinets (never in the kitchen, though), so I chalked it up to curious cat antics. It continues to this day, at least a couple of times a month.

Then, a couple of weeks ago, I went to a used book store and bought this book that I'd been wanting to read. For some reason, I began thumbing through the book and came across this:

a torn piece of napkin with the name Joyce neatly written at the top. That's it....just the name Joyce and nothing else. Can you guess what my mother's first name was? What's even more interesting is how much the handwriting resembled my mother's.

Sign or coincidence?

Definitely a sign.... as you know I do genealogy and I believe that our ancestors do send signs, and 'cause' these coincidences...
Joyce is sending you a sign, you just have to interpret it... maybe she's telling you to hurry up and visit her in the mountains :-)

I can believe it's a sign. I love Barbara Kingsolver, by the way.

DebH... thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I think it's a sign too!

Arnetta...I think so too. I'm just not so good at the interpreting part. I like the idea that she wants us to visit in the mountains. I'm hoping that visiting will turn into permanent very, very soon!

MorningBray...this is my first Kingslover book and I really like it so far.

Yes, yes it is a sign. She is trying to get your attention. Do you ever smell a fragrance that she loved ( roses, oranges, etc) out of the blue?
I am a true believer in the paranormal. Have always had experiences since I was a baby. I can sometimes see them!

AJOAKS, I have actually smelled fragrances that reminded me of her, and I've felt her presence a few times. I've often wished I had visits where I could see her, but so far that hasn't happened. So cool about your experiences!

Hi Lilla,

I found your blog a couple of weeks ago and have been catching up on your posts and enjoying every bit. I definitely believe it's a sign, too. I think you can go by the feeling you have. I've had many loving experiences of those in non-physical and feel they let us know they are alive and well and still a part of our lives in any way they can. I especially loved the note from Joyce in the book. How sweet!
