Squirrel Trivia

In case you ever had the burning desire to know how a squirrel keeps his teeth sharp, I am here to provide the answer. Excuse the shaky video, but I cannot do two things at once, so walking and focusing is quite the challenge!

I just knew those bones would be good for something once the dogs were finished with them!

oddly compelling indeed, Daune! We have a few squirrels who are pretty brave, including Mama, who will eat out of our hands. This little guy was intent on sharpening his teeth and didn't budge until the dogs came running out the door!

That is cute! Maybe he thought the bone was a giant nut.

their teeth keep growing so they have to hone them down...

What a cute little fella! I really enjoyed watching him. We have a hard time finding shed deer antler around here because the squirrels destroy them pretty quickly. How cool you caught that on video. BTW - my niece called them "squirts" when she was very little and they have been "squirts" to us ever since, so I have to think to properly say "squirrels" now!

SVB, yes, a giant nut that he couldn't crack open and eat! We've also caught them gnawing on the rubber Kong toys that we stuff with peanut butter for the dogs. They are quite entertaining to watch!

Arnetta, there are plenty bones scattered around for them to sharpen those ever-growing teeth of theirs! Glad to see you were able to make a comment.

Penny, I like your niece's name for squirrels. They can definitely be little "squirts" at times, so that is very appropriate!
