For many months now, we've had the cremains of one of our sweet kitties, Sammy, and those of my mother, waiting for the right time and place to release them. We took them to The Ranch with us a couple of times, but it was either too windy or too rainy. Finally, this weekend proved to be the right time.
We said our goodbyes again to Sammy first, releasing his ashes under a small pine tree...

And for my mother, I chose an area at the front of our property, where there are large rock outcroppings and this stately, impressive pine tree...
And some in the shrubs and wildflowers nearby (my mother loved flowers)...
And as a perfect ending to our ceremony, I stood on a big rock overlooking our little Ranch and cast her remaining ashes into the wind.

A beautiful place where she can truly rest in peace!
Amen to that! I hope I'm as lucky to rest in such a place when my time comes...
That is so sweet. I think you done good - and I'm sure both your mother and Sammy are pleased to rest in such a beautiful place. And they'll be a part of your experiences there forever.
Thanks, Penny. It's comforting to know they will be watching over us at The Ranch.
what a special way to memorialize and incorporate your love for them into your lives!
Daune - thanks.
